Boys T-Ball (Ages 5 & 6)

 

  • **Follow the Little League Rule Book with the following exceptions**
  • Players consist of 5 and 6 year olds and any younger players to fill a team. Players can only be on one town’s roster. Can borrow players from 6U (girls softball t-ball) teams only to make enough players up to 9 for a game roster.
  • Two base coaches will be allowed on offense and must be 16 years or older. On defense 2 coaches can stand on the field to instruct the players. This is optional. The coach is not allowed to touch the ball or players when the ball is in play.
  • There will be no more than 10 players on defense with 4 in the outfield. You must have a minimum of 8 to start.
  • All games shall be 6 innings with NO new innings starting after 1 ½ hours.
  • Each home team will provide 2 game balls to the umpire and they must be Little League approved balls.
  • Bats will be 2 ¼ barrel or t-ball approved.
  • The tee must be adjustable and made of rubber. No parts can be wood or metal.
  • All equipment must conform to current Little League standards. A coach will be responsible for this.
  • The pitcher’s mound is 46’ from home plate and the distance between bases is 50’.A 10’ arch line will be placed in front of the batter’s box and the batted ball must clear this arch to be in play.
  • NEW RULE: The Pitchers circle and half way lines will NO longer be utilized. In order to stop play, lead runner is stopped or the pitcher must have control of the ball on the pitcher’s mound.
  • All Players must play 6 consecutive defensive outs (6 outs in two innings) and bat one (1) time. Penalty will be forfeiture of the game. The substitute player must also play the above requirements before the starting player re-enters. Starting players may re-enter in any spot in the batting order. EXCEPTION: Shortened game due to weather, darkness or run rule will eliminate the mandatory play time rule.
  • The team having an 8 run lead after 5 complete innings or 15 run lead after 4 innings will be declared the winner.
  • Any qualified person may be an umpire; they must be at least 16 years old or older and have knowledge of the rules.
  • All catchers are to stay behind the batter within the catching position until the ball is hit. They must wear full equipment and throat guards are mandatory.
  • Players should attempt to make a play on the field. Players should throw the ball to the base where play is being made. Don’t have pitcher run with the ball to first base or roll it. EXCEPTION:1st baseman can run to first base.
  • Stealing or leading off is not allowed. If a player leaves base early, it is a dead ball, all runners return to the base occupied prior to pitch, and a warning is issued. If any player leaves a base early a second time, that runner is out, and all runners return no matter who the player was committing the offense.
  • A one base advancement will be allowed on an overthrow to 1st base. This is earned and not automatic. If the runner is not going toward the base or is standing on the base the runner will not advance because of it.
  • Coaches need to show the players the proper way to stand in order to hit the ball. They will also need to show the player how throw the ball and not roll it.
  • These rules have been adapted by the Morrow County Board and will be followed by each coach. The game is T-Ball, an instructional and fun game for kids. The kids are not concerned as much as the grownups are about winning, just about having fun and playing the game. Let’s keep it that way and make it enjoyable for all involved.  Let the kids have fun!

 

Boys Skeeter Baseball (Ages 7 & 8)

 

  • Players consist of 7 and 8 year old and any younger players to fill a team. Players can only be on one town’s roster.
  • Pitching mound will be 46’ from home plate and distance between bases is 60’.
  • 2 base coaches will be allowed but must be 16 years or older.
  • There will be no more than 9 players on defense.
  • All games shall be 6 innings with no new inning starting after 2 hours.
  • Each home team will provide 2 game balls to the umpire and must be Little League approved balls.
  • Bats will be 2 ¼ barrel only. Players caught will be subject to penalty (EJECTION).
  • All equipment must conform to current Little League standards. A coach will be EJECTED if a player is ejected for illegal equipment found as this is their responsibility.
  • All Players must play 6 consecutive defensive outs (6 outs in two innings) and bat one (1) time. Penalty will be forfeiture of the game. The substitute player must also play the above requirements before the starting player re-enters. EXCEPTION: shortened game due to weather, darkness or run rule will eliminate the mandatory play time rule.
  • There will be 7 runs or 3 outs per half inning.
  • The team having an 8 run lead after 5 complete innings or 15 run lead after 4 innings will be declared the winner.
  • Any qualified person may umpire; they must be at least 16 years old or older to umpire the game. They must have knowledge of the rules.
  • Pitching: there will be no more than 7 overhand pitches to the batter. No balls are counted, only swings at 3 strikes the batter will be out. If the batter gets to the 3rd strike or 7th pitch and fouls it off, the batter will get additional pitch.
  • The pitcher-coach must stand on the pitching rubber in order to pitch a good overhand pitch to the batter. The player-child in the pitching position must stand within 5 feet on either side of the pitcher-coach. Not in front or distracting the pitcher.
  • When a batter is being pitched too, the pitcher-coach is not to interfere with play in anyway. If the ball hits them it is still a live ball. If the coach catches the ball it will become a dead ball, count will stay the same and the batter will re-hit.
  • All catchers are to stay behind the batter within the catching position until the ball is hit. They must wear full equipment and throat guards are mandatory.
  • Players should attempt to make a play on the field. On a play to first the pitcher must throw the ball to first only. Play is stopped by stopping the lead runners.
  • Stealing or leading off is not allowed. If a player leaves base early, it is a dead ball, all runners return to the base occupied prior to pitch, and a warning is issued. If any player leaves a base early a second time, that runner is out, and all runners return no matter who the player was committing the offense.
  • The entire game will be Coach Pitch. Coach, adult, or any responsible 16 to 18 yr. old may pitch.
  • NEW RULE: The Pitchers circle and half way lines will NO longer be utilized.In order to stop play, lead runner is stopped or the pitcher must have control of the ball on the pitcher’s mound.

 

Boys Pee Wee Baseball (Ages 9 & 10)

  • Players consist of 9 and 10 year olds and any younger players to fill a team.  Players can only be on one town’s roster.
  • Pitching distance will be 46’ from home plate and the distance between bases is 60’.
  • 2 base coaches will be allowed but must be 16 years or older.
  • There will be no more than 9 players on defense.
  • All games shall be 6 innings with NO new innings starting after 2 ½ hours.
  • Each home team will provide 2 game balls to the umpire and they must be Little League approved balls.
  • Bats will be 2 ¼ barrel only. Players caught will be subject to penalty (EJECTION).
  • All equipment must conform to current Little League standards.  A coach will be EJECTED as well, if a player is found with illegal equipment, as this is their responsibility.
  • If a player squares to bunt, they cannot swing away.  Contact is not needed to indicate the infraction. The ball will be a dead ball and the batter will be called out and all runners return to the base occupied prior to pitch. All teams will be alerted of this.
  •  All Players must play 6 consecutive defensive outs (6 outs in two innings) and bat one (1) time. Penalty will be forfeiture of the game. The umpire must be sanctioned in the current year.  If a non-sanctioned umpire is used as a second umpire, they must be at least 16 years old.  Also, if the home team has no sanctioned umpire, then ONE of the following has to happen:  1.) Away team will provide one and home team pays for the umpire.  2.) Home team will reimburse visiting team for umpire fee within 1 week of game or 3.) Game is a forfeit by the home team. Bottom line… no sanctioned umpire….no game!
  • PITCHING: A pitcher can have a max of 75 pitches per day.  If a pitcher reaches his limit he can finish the batter he is on and then has to be removed from the game. A pitcher who delivers 41 or more pitches in a game cannot play the position of catcher for the remainder of that day.  Coaches are permitted to warm up pitcher if catcher is not ready.
  • Rest requirements for Pitchers:
  1. If player pitches 66 or more pitches in a day he will need 4 days rest.
  2. If player pitches 51 to 65 pitches in a day he will need 3 days rest.
  3. If player pitches 36 to 50 pitches in a day he will need 2 days rest.
  4. If player pitches 21 to 35 pitches in a day he will need 1 day rest.
  5. If player pitches 1 to 20 pitches in a day he will need 0 day’s rest.

  • Any catcher that has caught 4 innings may not pitch in that game. Just as any pitcher can only catch 1 inning after 3 innings pitched. More if they pitch/catch less.
  • Coaches are required to keep records of their pitchers name, days and pitches thrown. This must be shown to the opposing coach at the beginning of a game if asked. All score books must be signed by the opposing coaches at the end of each game to verify all information is correct. This has not been done but has been a requirement for years past. This information will keep teams and pitchers out of trouble. If Coaches refuse to sign the president will be notified immediately.
  • If a player leaves a base early, it’s a dead ball; all runners return to the base occupied prior to pitch, and a warning is issued. If any player leaves a base early a second time, that runner is out, and all runners return no matter who the player was committing the offense.
  • Stealing is allowed (including Home) once the ball crosses home plate.
  • Protesting a Game: Protest shall be considered only when based on the violation or interpretation of a playing rule, use of an ineligible pitcher or the use of an ineligible player.  No protest shall be considered on a decision involving an umpire’s judgment. Equipment which does not meet specifications must be removed from the game.

 

Boys Little League Baseball (Ages 11, 12, 13)

 

  • **Follow the Little League Rule Book with the following exceptions***
  • Players consist of 11, 12, and 13 year olds and any younger players to fill a team.  Players can only be on one town’s roster.  Each town may have as many team as possible for the number of kids available provided they live in that town’s district.
  • Pitching distance will be 52’ from home plate and the distance between bases is 70’.
  • 2 base coaches will be allowed but must be 16 years or older.
  • There will be no more than 9 players on defense.
  • All games shall be 6 innings with NO new innings starting after 2 ½ hours.
  • Each home team will provide 2 game balls to the umpire and they must be approved balls.
  • Bats will be 2 ¼ barrel only. Players caught will be subject to penalty (EJECTION).
  • All equipment must conform to current Little League standards.  A coach will be EJECTED as well, if a player is found with illegal equipment, as this is their responsibility.

Once a pitcher has been removed he cannot go back to pitch that day. A pitcher who delivers 41 or more pitches in a game cannot play the position of catcher for the remainder of that day.  Coaches are permitted to warm up pitcher if catcher is not ready.

Boys Pony League Baseball (Ages 14, 15, 16)

 

  • Must follow the OHSAA Rules for game play.
  • Revert pitching time to the OHSAA rules.
  • Designated hitter reverts to the OHSAA rules.
  • Metal cleats are permitted.
  • Players consist of 14, 15 and 16 year olds of age on or before Jan. 1 and any 13 year olds needed to fill a team.  All rosters will be turned into the tournament director by June 1st.
  • No current High School players playing on their current high school team may participate in any practice or team events, to include games, before the end of that schools season or if they have been released by their high school coach.
  • All games shall be 7 innings with NO new innings starting after 3 hours.
  • Pitching distance will be 60’ 6” from home plate and must be on a mound. The distance between bases is 90’.
  • 2 base coaches will be allowed.
  • Each home team will provide 3 game balls to the umpire.  Baseballs for game play may be High School, Babe Ruth or Pony and either Rawlings or Diamond brand.  No Little League balls will be allowed.
  • Bats will be 2 5/8 barrel only with up to -3 length (EX:  34”-31”, 33”-30”, 32”-29”).  Bats must also have the new BBCOR on them and BESR bats are illegal. Players caught will be subject to penalty (EJECTION).
  • All equipment must conform to current NFHS standards (National Federation High School).  A coach as well as players will be EJECTED for equipment violations.
  • The visiting team having a 10 run lead after 5 complete innings will be declared the winner, or if the home team having a 10 run lead after 4 ½   innings will be declared the winner.
  • There must be at least 1 sanctioned umpire for games, 2 are preferred (must have 2 sanctioned umpires for tournament play). The umpire must be sanctioned in the current year.  If a non-sanctioned umpire is used as a second umpire, they must be at least 16 years old.  Also, if the home team has no sanctioned umpire, then ONE of the following has to happen:  1.) Girls Leagues

 

Girls T-Ball (Ages 5 & 6)

 

  • 6U Tee-ball is played by 5 and 6 yr. old children who are of age before Jan. 1st.
  • Coaches will place the 10 inch ball on the tee.
  • The game is played with 10 players, having 4 outfielders
  • Games may be held with 9 players without taking an out if need be.
  • Bases are 50 feet apart, with the pitching distance being 35 feet and a circle indicated around the mound of 16 feet.
  • There are 6 innings, with no NEW inning after 1.5 hrs.
  • Each inning consists of three outs or seven runs, whichever comes first.
  • There is no stealing or intentional bunting.
  • Play stops when the pitcher has control of the ball while in the pitching circle.
  • Any overthrow to a base results in one additional base for the runner.
  • Strike outs are eliminated.
  • 6U teams cannot use any bat over 28 inches long.
  • Games are played according to Ohio High School Athletic Associations rules with some exceptions as stated in the Morrow County Girls Softball Rules (most of which are stated above).

 

Girls Coach-Pitch Softball (Ages 7 & 8)

 

  • 8U Coach Pitch is played by 7 and 8 yr. old children who are of age before January 1st.
  • The game is played with 10 players, having 4 outfielders
  • Games may be held with 9 players without taking an out if need be.
  • Coaches pitch an 11 inch ball to their own players.
  • Each player will be given 7 pitches, with three strikes being counted as an out.
  • There are 6 innings, with no NEW inning after 1.5 hrs.
  • Each inning consists of three outs or seven runs, whichever comes first.
  • Bases are 50 feet apart, with the pitching distance being 35 feet and a circle indicated around the mound of 16 feet.
  • Coaches must pitch from the pitching rubber and avoid interference on the ball when hit.
  • Bunting and stealing are not permitted.
  • Games are played according to Ohio High School Athletic Associations rules with some exceptions as stated in the Morrow County Girls Softball Rules (most of which are stated above).

 

Girls C-Ball Softball (Ages 9 & 10)

 

  • 10U C-ball is played by 9 and 10 yr. old children who are of age before January 1st.
  • The game is played with 9 players, having 3 outfielders.
  • No new inning after 2 hrs.
  • Bases are 60 feet apart, and stealing is permitted once the ball crosses the plane of home plate.
  • Pitcher must use an 11 inch ball and pitch from a distance of 35 feet.
  • Stealing is permitted once the ball crosses the front plane of the plate.
  • Players must use a FAST PITCH softball bat.
  • Infield fly rule does NOT apply.
  • Sliding is permitted.
  • Dropped 3rd strike does NOT apply.
  • Sanctioned umps are required.
  • Games are played according to Ohio High School Athletic Associations rules with some exceptions as stated in the Morrow County Girls Softball Rules (most of which are stated above).

 

Girls B-Ball Softball (Ages 11 & 12 )

 

  • 13U B-ball is played by 11, 12 and 13 yr. old girls who are of age before January 1st.
  • Pitchers will pitch a 12 inch ball from a distance of 40 feet.
  • Bases are 60 feet apart, with stealing permitted at the release of the pitch.
  • NO METAL CLEATS.
  • There are 7 innings, or no NEW inning after 2 hrs.
  • Infield fly rule DOES apply.
  • Sliding is permitted.
  • Dropped 3rd strike DOES apply.
  • Games are played according to Ohio High School Athletic Associations rules with some exceptions as stated in the Morrow County Girls Softball Rules (most of which are stated above).

 

Girls A-Ball Softball (Ages 13, 14, 15)

 

  • 15U A-ball games are played by 14, 15 and 16 yr. old girls who are of age before Jan. 1st.
  • Pitchers will pitch a 12 inch ball from a distance of 43 feet
  • Bases are 60 feet apart, with stealing permitted after the pitcher releases the ball.
  • NO METAL CLEATS.
  • There are 7 innings, with no new inning being played after 2 hrs.
  • Infield fly rule does apply.
  • Dropped 3rd strike rule does apply.
  • Sliding is permitted.
  • Games are played according to Ohio High School Athletic Associations rules with some exceptions as stated in the Morrow County Girls Softball Rules (most of which are stated above).
